Job Title : Head of Sales & Marketing

Reports to : Chief Operating Officer

Job Description

MSC provides critical supplies to the clinical, life science, and pharmaceutical industries in Ireland. Support and maintenance is offered on all equipment sold. We require an experienced Head of Sales/Sales Director to shape our sales function and grow revenue to the next level. The successful candidate will devise and deliver the company’s sales and business development strategies. They will lead, manage, and develop the Sales team.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver a sales and marketing strategy in line with business objectives with an emphasis on quality profitable new business.
  • By providing direction in line with business strategy, lead, motivate and measure the performance of the Sales team to ensure individual and team budgets and objectives are achieved.
  • Deal promptly and efficiently with any performance/conduct related issues with team members.
  • Work with Divisional Sales Managers to ensure that all tenders, proposals, and agreement renewals are completed on time to the highest standard.
  • Preparation of annual sales budget.
  • Develop and implement standard sales operating practices and monitoring techniques in conjunction with direct reports.
  • Ensure effective sales monitoring is in place for all sales activity and ensure that the business is capturing critical data in relation to conversion targets and market opportunities.
  • Timely annual review of sales incentives to support the recruitment and retention of the Sales Team.
  • Build and maintain relationships with senior personnel in MSC’s top revenue generating accounts.
  • Accompany sales personnel on customer visits as and when required.
  • Present new business opportunities/ideas to COO/CEO.
  • Attending local and international trade shows, conferences, and exhibitions.
  • Supplier management: Review distribution contracts with COO/CEO to ensure they are kept up to date.
  • Supplier management: Meet with and negotiate terms with new and existing suppliers.
  • Work with other MSC departments to ensure seamless service for our customers.

Attributes

  • 7 years of relevant sales experience.
  • Sales management experience.
  • People management experience.
  • Strong leadership and team building skills.
  • Desirable: Degree level or higher qualification in a scientific field.
  • Desirable: Working knowledge of Irish clinical, research, and pharmaceutical laboratory sectors.
