A novel disinfectant called Tristel FUSE which is a proprietary formulation of chlorine dioxide effective against a variety of bacteria, spores, viruses and mycobacteria. It is effective against SARS-CoV-2 (“Coronavirus”)

Tristel FUSE for Surfaces harnesses the powers of Tristel’s proprietary chlorine dioxide chemistry. It is effective against a wide range of microorganisms, including multi-drug resistant pathogens, in short, contact times.

At a Glance

Tristel Fuse is a high-level disinfectant and sporicidal solution designed to prevent outbreaks and ward closures. It is delivered in an easy to use sachet which is mixed with water and ready to use right away.

•  The active ingredient of Tristel Fuse is Chlorine Dioxide (ClO2)
•  ClO2 is WHO approved for drinking water disinfection and is approved by the US EPA.
•  The biocidal activity of ClO2 is oxidation. Tristel Fuse has a higher oxidative capacity than agents such as paracetic acid, hydrogen peroxide and aqueous chlorine meaning that it is has better biocidal activity.
  ClO2 kills viruses, bacterial and other micro-organisms, including spores, by sequestering electrons from the micro-organism, this results in molecular imbalance and death of the organism. The microbes cannot develop resistance to this method.
•  ClO2 is less corrosive to surfaces than other common cleaners such as aqueous chlorine, paracetic acid and hydrogen peroxide
• Tristel Fuse is very easy to use. The product comes as a two-compartment sachet. The sachet components are mixed together and then added to 5 litres of water. This can then be used directly on surfaces
•  Each cleaning kit comes with microfibre clothes a sterile spray bottle and syringe
•  Less harmful to people and equipment compared to other common biocides, eg Hydrogen Peroxide and Chlorine

• FUSE is a sporicidal disinfectant solution designed specifically for use on large surface areas such as floors and walls.
• FUSE combines the powerful biocidal efficacy of chlorine dioxide with excellent cleaning action.
• FUSE incorporates two separate compartments that contain 50ml Base solution (citric acid) and 50ml Activator solution (sodium chlorite). When mixed upon bursting the sachet, a proprietary chlorine dioxide chemistry is generated for dilution into five litres of water.
• FUSE is classified as a biocide under the EU Biocides Regulation

FUSE is sporicidal, mycobactericidal, virucidal, fungicidal and bactericidal in five minutes. It has been tested and proven effective against a wide range of microorganisms, including:

  • Mycobacterium terrae (surrogate of Mycobacterium tuberculosis)
  • Norovirus
  • Aspergillus brasiliensis
  • Adenovirus
  • Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)

Tristel FUSE for surfaces has been tested in accordance with EN 14476, the European regulatory standard for viricidal activity of disinfectants. Organisms are chosen by scientists for testing under this regulatory standard as they are representative of the most resistant viruses in the medical area. These viruses are Murine Norovirus, Poliovirus Type 1 and Adenovirus type 5. Efficacy against these viruses and compliance with this standard infers efficacy against all viruses (non-enveloped and enveloped), which includes SARS-Cov-2 (the virus responsible for the Covid-19 outbreak).
