Job Description

MSC provides critical supplies to the clinical, life science, and pharmaceutical industries in Ireland. Support and maintenance is offered on all equipment sold.

Due to continued expansion, MSC is excited to offer an apprenticeship opportunity within our dedicated refrigeration team. This team boasts three fully qualified engineers, each with over 10 years of experience in the field. The successful candidate will embark on a comprehensive training program, designed to develop skills in refrigeration installation, commissioning, and service, alongside a strong support system to ensure their growth and confidence in the field.

Location

The role will require travel throughout the island of Ireland, including occasional overnight stays. Therefore, a willingness to travel is essential.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of refrigeration equipment under the guidance and supervision of our experienced engineers.
  • Participate in on-site service tasks, including laboratory equipment repair and routine preventive maintenance services across Ireland and Northern Ireland.
  • Engage in troubleshooting minor software problems and upgrading firmware with the support of the team.
  • Receive training on and contribute to the provision of training to customers, as skills and knowledge develop.
  • Support the team in ensuring product and service quality standards are met.
  • Learn to build and maintain relationships with customers under the mentorship of senior engineers.
  • Assist in promoting and growing the service business of MSC by cooperating with the MSC Sales Team to identify opportunities for the sale of new equipment.

Training and Development

  • The apprentice will undergo a structured training program covering all aspects of refrigeration and air conditioning engineering, tailored to accelerate learning and skill acquisition.
    • Regular feedback and support sessions to ensure the apprentice is developing in line with expectations and feels supported throughout their learning journey.
    • Opportunities to attend workshops, seminars, and courses relevant to the refrigeration and air conditioning industry.
    • Exposure to a wide range of scenarios and challenges, designed to build a comprehensive skill set.

Requirements

  • Essential: Full clean EU driving licence
    • A keen interest in pursuing a career in refrigeration and air conditioning engineering.
    • Commitment to learning and developing new skills within a technical and hands-on role.
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
    • A positive attitude towards work and learning, with the ability to accept guidance and feedback.
    • No previous experience in the field required.
