The storage and retrieval of vials at cryogenic temperatures is completely automated.  The SMARTFREEZER® EVO utilizes the most cutting-edge robotic technology available for the storage and retrieval of biological samples at -180 °C

The samples are kept in LN2 vapour, which offers the most secure conditions possible and eliminates the possibility of samples becoming cross-contaminated with one another.
