Here at MSC, we are proud to introduce the Alegria®2 to the Irish clinical laboratory market. the newest addition to our instrumentation portfolio. We can now offer the market’s broadest autoimmune panel, combined with specialty infectious disease, stool inflammation markers and bone metabolism assays. The fully automated benchtop Alegria®2 instrument is suitable for small, medium and large Irish laboratories. The Alegria®2 provides a sample-to-result solution utilizing ORGENTEC’s unique and comprehensive Alegria®2 ® Monotest portfolio with more than 100 parameters.
Each Alegria® Monotest strip includes the complete set of reagents that are needed to perform the analysis for one individual patient result. Each test result is validated with its own integrated control for the highest reliability and quality in the lab.
The flexibility to run any test from the large ORGENTEC portfolio at any time characterises the Alegria®2 ® system. Tailor-made biomarker profiles can be analysed for individual patients based on the requirements of the requesting physician – for optimal patient care.

Key autoimmunity tests
In particular, the Alegria®2 offers a diverse test portfolio that addresses a wide range of autoimmune diseases. This expansive menu of assays allows clinical laboratories to accurately diagnose and monitor various autoimmune conditions efficiently.
Anti-Nuclear Antibodies (ANA) Profile: ANA testing is a fundamental component of autoimmune disease diagnosis. The Alegria®2 offers a panel of ANA assays that detect antibodies against various nuclear antigens. This is invaluable in diagnosing systemic autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and Sjögren’s syndrome.
Anti-Phospholipid Antibodies (aPL): These tests are essential for diagnosing antiphospholipid syndrome (APS), a condition characterized by the presence of antibodies against phospholipids. The Alegria®2 provides accurate and sensitive aPL testing, aiding in the management of APS-related complications like thrombosis and miscarriages.
Anti-Neutrophil Cytoplasmic Antibodies (ANCA): ANCA testing is crucial in diagnosing diseases like granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) and microscopic polyangiitis (MPA). The Alegria®2 offers ANCA assays that detect specific autoantibodies targeting neutrophil cytoplasmic antigens, aiding in the early detection and differentiation of these disorders.
Celiac Disease Panel: Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder triggered by the consumption of gluten. The Alegria®2 ‘s celiac disease panel includes tests for antibodies like anti-tissue transglutaminase (tTG) and anti-deamidated gliadin peptide (DGP), aiding in the diagnosis and monitoring of this condition.
Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) Profile: Early detection of rheumatoid arthritis is crucial for initiating timely treatment. The Alegria®2 ‘s RA profile includes tests for rheumatoid factor (RF) and anti-citrullinated protein antibodies (ACPA), contributing to the accurate diagnosis of RA.
Autoimmune Liver Disease Panel: This panel includes tests for autoantibodies associated with autoimmune liver diseases like primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) and autoimmune hepatitis (AIH). The Alegria®2 assists in the identification and management of these complex conditions.
Connective Tissue Disease Panel: Connective tissue diseases encompass a range of conditions such as systemic sclerosis, dermatomyositis, and mixed connective tissue disease. The Alegria®2 ‘s panel aids in the diagnosis and differentiation of these disorders through targeted autoantibody testing.
Thyroid Autoantibodies: The Alegria®2 offers assays for thyroid autoantibodies, including anti-thyroid peroxidase (TPO) and anti-thyroglobulin (TG) antibodies. These tests assist in the diagnosis and monitoring of autoimmune thyroid diseases like Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and Graves’ disease.
Autoimmune Encephalopathy Panel: This panel encompasses tests for antibodies associated with autoimmune encephalopathies, aiding in the diagnosis of conditions affecting the central nervous system, such as anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis.
The Alegria®2 ‘s autoimmunity test portfolio represents a comprehensive approach to diagnosing and managing autoimmune diseases. By offering a diverse range of assays, the instrument enables clinicians to tailor their diagnostic approach to the specific needs of each patient. This not only enhances diagnostic accuracy but also contributes to more effective treatment strategies and improved patient outcomes. The Alegria®2 ‘s versatility and precision make it an indispensable tool in the field of autoimmune disease diagnostics.
